Before and After

It has been a crazy week. After living in our home for almost two years we finally updated our bedrooms. We painted, replaced light fixtures, light switches/electrical sockets, added molding and we paid someone to install carpet over our ugly hardwood floors. Matt’s mom helped us throughout this whole process. She helped prep the rooms for paint, helped paint the main color, helped Matt with the molding so I could go to a Baby Shower and she watched Evan for two days so he could run around because our living room, kitchen and hall had all our things from our bedrooms. It would have taken us longer than a week to get this done if it weren’t for her. Thank you so much Mom!
Here are some before and after pictures of our work for your enjoyment.

Our Bedroom
Whoever painted this room last did a horrible job. You cant see it in the pictures but half the trim was painted so it was half white and this ugly beige color. Walls were different colors so the paint was differnt and the application was just bad. They missed spots. They also took out the molding and never replaced it so you can see the plaster underneath. Take my word for it that it was bad.


The floors are a different story. Gross!

Since we put carpet in our bedrooms we put carpet down in the basement bedroom as well. We replaced the carpet down there over a year ago but didn't put any in the bedroom. Our next big project will be our kitchen. I'm excited to get going on that.

Josh and Melody

Congratulations Josh and Melody on getting Married this morning. It was a great honor to be there in the Temple with you. Melody you are and looked so beautiful and Josh you looked handsome. We are really looking forward to you guys moving to Provo in the Summer/Fall. We hope you find a place in our ward so we can see you guys all the time :).

Welcome Cadence

I want to welcome Cadence Smith into this world. He was born January 11, 2009(today) at 9:03 a.m. He weighs 6lb 14oz and 19 inches long.

We got to vist him and his parents this evening. He is so precious!

Merry Christmas!

We had a wonderful Christmas Eve and Christmas. We spent Christmas Eve with my family. We had a wonderful meal followed by the tradition of reading in Luke. My younger brothers and sisters role played it. After listening to my father and watching the kids we got to open Christmas gifts from one another. We did this a day early because Elizabeth had an early flight to San Diego Christmas morning. Evan was spoiled of course.
Christmas morning was spent at our home. Evan is still a little too young to know what was going on but we were excited to see what he will do when he sees the presents under the tree. Before we opened any we had breakfast.

Last year he was the same size as his stocking (maybe even smaller). It's fun to see the difference just in one year.


We made our way over to our friends, Austin and Amy, for a gift exchange before we headed up to Spanish Fork to spend time with Matt's Family. Michael wasn't home yet from work so we went to my parents to see what they got and played some games with them. We gave my mom the old school Nintendo system with her favorite game, Mario 3.

She was in heaven.
When Michael came home we got to open more presents. Evan once again got spoiled. We're glad we didn't buy more than the chair and blocks because he is set for next Christmas! Thank you everyone!

Merry Christmas!!!

Let it Snow!!

This isn't the first fallen snow of the season but I wanted to share how much has dumped just in a few hours and it's still falling! There's about 2 feet of freshly fallen snow and I attempted to shovel it all by myself. I got all the walk ways and half the driveway and gave up. That's the one thing I hate about snow.
I went in to see if Evan was up from his nap and once he was I got him all bundled up and took him out side to play. Here are a few pictures with him playing. I got an early Christmas present, a Blackberry so I was able to capture these memories. The first time he was playing in the snow was captured by a camera that has film. I have yet to develop them. I'm grateful for digital cameras and phones that have nice cameras. I'm also grateful that it decided to start snowing. For awhile there we thought it wouldn't.

November Adventures

It's basically been a month since I last blogged. November has come and gone in a whirl wind so I lost track of what day it was. We had so much going on so I have a few things that I will like to blog about.

I stepped out of my comfort zone and hosted a Baby Shower for my good friend Amy. I never hosted a baby shower before so this was a new experience for me. There was so much that I wanted to do and I realized I could get in trouble by spending so much money. I thought it was a great success and it was so much fun. I had it in my home and close to 40 people showed up! It had nothing to do with me but because Amy is such a great person and loved by so many people.


I cut Evan's hair for the first time. I thought he would be fine with it but I was shocked to find that Evan was scared to death. He was shaking so bad. We didn't get any pictures of him during the cut because Matt was busy comforting him while I was trying to hurry. I felt so bad. Once I was done he calmed down and went back to playing. He wouldn't hold still long enough for a really good after shot.


Thanksgiving was really special this year. Since Grandma Haymore has been having medical problems, Uncle David invited the whole family for Thanksgiving dinner. He planned it for the day after Thanksgiving so more people could show up. That let us have another Thanksgiving Dinner with Grandpa Thompson. We left Tuesday night so we could have more time with him. On Thanksgiving we offered to help make food but Grandpa declined. During dinner we understood why. He wanted to prove to himself that he could do it and oh my gosh! It was delicious!! We all couldn't get over how yummy it all was. I'm still craving his Turkey and homemade stuffing. It's making me hungry just thinking about it! I still felt bad for not helping prepare the food so I offered to help with the dishes after I put Evan down for his nap. Before we dug into pie and ice cream we drove to the cemetery to visit Grandma Thompson's grave. I never been there so I'm glad we went.


After the cemetery we went to a fun park. When I went to upload the photo's they were blurry. Our camera decided that it didn't want to work for us anymore so I'm really sad. I'm going through withdraw ls. I'm glad Laura took photos of the trip because I wouldn't have any so thanks Laura! They aren't super blurry but you can't see much of Evan's face. He was having so much fun chasing birds with Daddy.
The camera might be set to something that I can't figure out how to fix because we filmed him on this awesome swing and it turned out clear. I guess we need to fiddle with it more.

Thanks Grandpa for a great Thanksgiving and a fun stay!

The plan was to go home the next day but Matt and I decided to stay an extra day and leave Sunday morning so we could have more time with Family. Laura stayed with us but before the rest of the family left, we joined our Hamblin cousins in the hunt for their two Christmas tree's. Aunt Gwen missed her flight home from Georgia so she couldn't be there was us. Another reason why we wanted to stay an extra day so we could see her. We went into the mountains and we were expecting it to be cold but it was really hot!





There were dogs there and the younger kids loved them especially Evan.



Before we left we had their yummy Apple Cider. We never had anything that tasted so good. Before we went home we stopped off at In and Out. A must have when we visit a place that has one. I miss not being able to go there whenever I want too.
Matt continued to help our cousins with the trees and he helped put up Christmas lights on the house when we got back.

Either Matt saw the fruit growing on their neighbors tree or Chris showed him. They brought them in to show us and they are huge! Can you guess what they are?

If you guessed a grapefruit you are wrong. They're lemons!

We had a great time in California and we hope to visit again soon. We woke up bright and early for our drive home. Before we drove into Salt Lake we stopped to look at the Salt Flats. I never really saw them in the day time because we always drove through when it was dark. We also wanted Evan to run around.





Now we get to look forward to Christmas!
