Our Trip

Our time in Seattle was a memorable one. We flew out Wednesday the 18th and this was Evan's first time flying. I was a bit nervous because he's at that age where he hates to sit still but he did great on both flights. Surprisingly he fell asleep both times at take off. Once that plane started to speed down the runway he was out. He is such a good travel buddy.
Thursday we spent the day downtown Seattle with just the three of us. It was sprinkling and a little windy but we still went up to the top of the Space Needle. Once we were outside the wind was even worse and it was freezing! We weren't out there that long but just enough time to take a few photos. We warmed up while eating lunch and then we took Evan to the Children's Museum featuring Curious George. We thought it would be perfect for Evan because he's so curious about everything and he absolutely enjoyed everything about it. We both enjoyed it as well and I would love to go again if it ever comes our way. This is a video of him playing with the blocks. He was too young to put them on the conveyor belt so he just watched the older kids and just played with them.

In the area of the museum where Curious George was featured it had a slide that was super fast so we were too occupied to take pictures because we were making sure he wouldn't get hurt. We also were counting on a picture that Matt took from this photo station that would email us the picture but it never came. The room had other stations like experiments with lights and colors.
We spent a lot of time in there but explored the rest of the Museum.

The Museum had a mock Taco Time and a real stage where the kids could dress up and act on stage for their parents. My favorite area was the mock Super Market. Evan had fun pushing his own cart and putting things in and out.

The kids were able to scan the food and everything.
There was an area for children under 3 years old and no one was in there so Evan had the run of the place.




The Museum also had mock homes of different countries like Japan and the Philippines. Evan felt right at home because he was able to play with pots and pans.



We had a lot of fun! We left and went on the monorail and walked down to the Fish Market. We couldn't believe how big it was. It just kept going and going. Not many people bought fish so we couldn't see the men toss the fish around but we had fun walking through a lot of the shops and looking at so many interesting things.

Friday we went to the Zoo and Aquarium with Alan and Jenny's Family. The best part was the Walruses. There were three and one was named ET and weighed 3300 pounds. He was huge! This picture isn't him but I thought it was a really cool shot.

It was fun watching them because they would swim into one another and hit each other and they would also come to the window and just stay there and do silly things. Not many animals were out because of the time of year but what we saw was cool. Before we left we rode the Merry-Go-Round a couple of times because it was free.


Saturday we spent the whole day in Port Townsend with our family as well. We visited the old Army base and walked though the Artillery Batteries.


We then spent a lot of time at the beach. I forgot our battery charger and our camera died so these pictures were taken by Aunt Jenny. She took a lot of great shots. She is so talented.

Sunday we spent the day at home with family after we went to church. Aunt Jenny's family came over for dinner and we had great food. I swear I came home a few pounds heavier.
Evan had so much fun with their dog Missy. I felt so bad for her because Evan wouldn't leave her alone and he wouldn't be gentle at times but she was so patient with him. When he woke up in the mornings the first thing he would do was find her. If we didn't know where Evan was we knew he had to be with Missy in her bed.


There are no pictures of our other little cousin Sam but he had a lot of fun having Evan around. He called him Kevin. We thought it was so cute and funny.
Our first full day back home was a little tough for Evan because he missed Missy and the interaction with other kids. Our Family Reunion in four months couldn't come fast enough.
Thank you so much Alan and Jenny for everything that you did and letting us come visit you guys. We hope to do it again.

For the time being, I want to post some pictures of our trip to Seattle. I will write about our fun later.

Baby Shower Fun

Lately I've been blogging a lot about Evan and nothing that's been going on with us. Of course we've been busy but with nothing that's too exciting to write about except a Baby Shower I threw for my friend Holly, whom I also visit teach in our ward. She is due to have her baby today, with a girl! This is her first child. I'm so excited for her.
Amy helped me with preparations but wasn't able to make it. She had another baby shower for her sister in-law that she needed to be at. Shelly, my visiting teaching partner, also helped throw it. I had a lot of fun planning this and there were so many fun ideas that were carried out with the help of Amy and Shelly. Amy made this super cute duck out of cupcakes.

This was such a good and cute idea because there was no need to cut anything and the girls can just help themselves. I will remember this and have this again. So easy and fun!
This Diaper Cake was my idea but Shelly took the time to buy and make fun little things for it. She made handmade bracelets and head clips out of those flowers. She is so talented! We both but it together and that was Shelly's gift to Holly.

A Mothers Love

The past couple of weeks I have come to realize how much I miss holding Evan. Ever since he started crawling at 7 Months he never really wanted to be in one spot so I could only really hold him when he was nursing. Once he was 10 1/2 months that was taken from me because I was drying up so he was on the bottle. I could still hold him but he was such a wiggle worm (and still is)that it was hard to get those cuddles in. Now that he's getting older it's been harder to get him to take his afternoon nap so it's more of a quite time for him in his bed. Yesterday was one of those days and since it was coming up on 6:00 I went to go get him. I guess he finally fell asleep right before I went in because it looked like I woke him up. Usually I would hold him after getting him from a nap but he would only let me for so long before he wanted down but yesterday he went back to sleep in my arms. He hasn't done that forever and since I missed holding him, I let him sleep for a little bit while I rocked him. I couldn't stop looking at him because he was so peaceful. I hate it that he's growing up but life doesn't hold still so I need to remember these moments and hold on to them. I just hope that there will be more times like these in the future.

More of Evan's Entertainment

Evan has been opening different things for awhile now but he's just learned how to climb into things. Recently I was putting my make-up on and doing my hair and next thing I knew, Evan was in the bath tub. It scared me even though he was fine but what if he does it again when I'm not there and he hurts himself? Well I got him out and he did it again and he did it without any problems. When Matt came home we had him do it again to show him but he never did it and hasn't done it since which is good. This morning he was in the kitchen while I was in another room but I could hear what he was doing. He loves opening the draws of our oven and I don't know how to keep Evan from opening them so I just don't put anything in there. I went in to check on him and I find him inside of one just sitting. I took pictures of course and video taped it since Matt is gone.


Another thing he's new at doing is closing doors after he goes in a room and when he realizes he cant get out he starts to knock.

Evan

Not a lot has been going on because we've been sick the past two weeks. Matt and I both got what's been going around but one after another and we're just praying that Evan doesn't catch it. Since it's been a while since I last posted I wanted to write about something and there is nothing better to write about except Evan. He turned 15 months today! Time has been going by so fast! Earlier today I was going through old photos of him and I can't believe how small he was.

Since he's 15 months, here are 15 facts about our little Evan.

1. He's a clean kid. I mean this in a way that he cleans up his toys when he's done with them. He sometimes will put them away before even playing with them.

2. He's afraid of the vacuum. When he sees it getting pulled out, he runs and hides. We find him in his closet.


3. I know this is normal but I was hoping this will come later in life. He figured out how to take his diaper off.

4. He loves lights! Whenever we walk into a new room he's always pointing at the lights saying, oooo! Sometimes he will say light but in baby talk.

5. He really has red in his hair. People don't always see it but he does.

6. His favorite thing to watch is Baby Einstein A Day on the Farm. Nothing matters in the world when it's on.

7. He can entertain himself. It makes it easy for me to work at home.

8. It's so easy to put him down for his nap or to sleep for the night. All we have to do is get him ready, say his prayer's, kiss him goodnight and tuck him in.

9. He loves animals. His first word was kitty.

10. His favorite word is Yeah! He uses it for everything especially when he knows he did something good.

11. He's the biggest wiggle worm at church. We are working on it so we're not counting down the Sundays to when he's able to be in the nursery.

12. He loves car seats for some reason. When he sees one he has to go and touch it.

13. He loves to mimic us when we sneeze. He recently learned how to fake cough as well.

14. He loves to share with other baby's. He will give them his toys to play with.

15.His favorite thing to do is turn around in circles and act dizzy because he knows we're watching.
