Father's Day Pictures

Father's Day is tomorrow but we did some celebrating today with Matt and his Dad. Laura is home from Virginia so she was able to join us. We're glad to have her back home. We had dinner together and afterwards we gave them their presents. Part of Matt's present I got Evan's pictures taken by Janea Lee. She's done a few photo sessions for us in the past. I love her work and she got us some great shots of Evan. Since it was a Father's Day gift I made it personal for Matt. Matt's favorite Major League Baseball team is the Oakland A's. I bought Evan an A's outfit off of Amazon.com along with a shirt for Matt. I took Evan to the Spanish Fork baseball field where his High School plays. Evan had a lot of fun running around, so most of them are all action shots. I also got a few shots of Evan dressed in his Daddy's white shirt and tie. I've kept this a secret for a couple weeks and I was so anxious for Matt to see them and he loves them! Now that he's seen them, I can now show you guys!

Hide and Seek

I'm sure most parents can relate to this. I think it's funny but frustrating at the same time. Evan loves to clean when we ask him too. There are times when he picks things up on his own and most of the time I'm not watching him do it. I think he's a great help but there have been occasions when he's thrown valuable things away! So far it's just our TV remote. Not quit sure if that's where it ended up but most likely because we turned our home upside down and it's been 6 months. Maybe even longer. We just came to the conclusion that he did toss it in the trash because we saw him throw things out. He thinks it's funny. We salvaged a number of things because of it. I always make a point to look in the trash every time I'm throwing something out. We have a lid on it and do a good job in keeping it shut but we're not perfect at it. Recently I borrowed a DVD from my sister and one day I wanted to watch it one more time before I had to take it back to her. I went to go get it and it was no where. Matt helped me look for it and everything. After two days of searching everywhere in the house I thought it was time to go dig outside in the trash can before we had to take the can out to the street. Unfortunately it wasn't there. I can't believe how disgusting a garbage can, can get. I hoped I wouldn't have to do that again. A few days later Matt couldn't find one of his sandals. Evan loves going into our closet to play with our shoes so we thought the worst. I did go looking in the trash for it again. Since Matt has the one pair I wanted to go out and buy him another pair but I couldn't find the time to go do it. Luckily I didn't because last weekend we were getting ready for two youth in our Stake to stay at our house for two days during a Missionary activity. We were getting our air mattress out of our basement and we ended up finding the sandal in our cooler. Yesterday I wanted to watch a movie that I haven't seen since I was a little girl. It's one of the few movies we have that's still in VHS format so we hardly ever use our VHS player. There was a tape already in there so I had to take it out but it wouldn't. After a few attempts to get it out by my fingers, I lifted the door up and I saw a disk in there. It happened to be the DVD I was looking for! The tape came out after that so I put in the tape I wanted to watch but it wouldn't go in. I looked in there once again and there were two more DVDs that Evan hid from us. He had the right idea but too bad they were in the wrong part! I'm hoping our TV remote will show up one day but it's been 6 months so I don't think that's going to happen.

18 Months

Evan turned 19 Months yesterday but Evan just got his 18 Month appointment last Thursday. I love his doctor('s) but if you don't set an appointment right away, you will wait forever for an appointment. We see Dr. Later and his team of doctors in Provo. This appointment I couldn't wait for because not only could I not wait to see how much he's grown but also because he had a sore on his big toe. I didn't see it happen so it's like it just appeared. I almost took him in a few times before the scheduled appointment because it looked so bad. I just tried to keep it clean and told myself he should be fine. It was a week and 3 days since his sore showed up on the day of his appointment. Well we first weighed him. I'm excited to say that our little boy actually gained weight! The last two appointments he only gained a few grams but this time he gained almost 2 pounds! He now weighs 21.47. That puts him in the 4.22 percentile. Last appointment he was 19.62. I was sure he didn't gain much or anything because we've been having a hard time getting him to eat anything. I was so happy when I heard how much he gained. He also grew in length. He's now 33 inches. That puts him in the 71.93 percentile. He was 31 inches.
When the doctor asked if I had any concerns I told her about his toe. I can't remember the name of what the sore could be but she wasn't concerned because it was healing great but it was some type of bacteria infection. She looked over the rest of his body to make sure he was healthy. She noticed that his tonsils were swollen but not red. She didn't think it could be strep but she got them tested anyways. After Evan got his last shot till Kindergarten (yay!), the doctor came back in to tell us that his strep test came back positive! How crazy is that? I think it's crazy because he hasn't acted out of the norm at all! It just took us all by surprise. She got us a prescription to take of it but it would also take care of his toe. I can't believe a sore could tell us that something else is wrong in the body.
Since it's been almost a week his toe is looking a lot better. I still can't believe he has strep because he's been an angel like always.

Memorial Day and Weekend

I honestly think that Memorial Day, along with the 4th of July, is one of my favorite holiday's. It's a Holiday where we can celebrate with family and friends with yummy food and fun! No presents are involved and more importantly, we celebrate our freedom and remember those that have fought for that freedom.
On Friday, Matt and I drove up to Park City to meet his parents that were using their Time Share. We just spent the evening with them since we had to be up bright and early the next day. We had dinner with them at Pizza Hut when we first got there. Dining in brought back a lot of fun memories. My best friend growing up (Maryann) used to work there. The smells, uniforms, signs and the place it's self was the same as back then. It was like going back in time because nothing has been updated. The food was delicious of course.
After dinner we went to the Outlets and got great deals at Carter's and Bass. Evan got so many cute outfits and Matt got two nice pairs of shoes. I didn't see any stores that I love shopping at so I didn't bother looking for anything for me but if they had a Downeast Outfitters I would be all over that place.
After shopping we went around the main attractions of Park City before we headed back to the hotel to swim. I wish I brought my camera to the pool because Evan was being so cute in this crab. It took him a little while to get used to the water but once he knew he was ok he was going crazy.
The next day we invited a bunch of our friends and some family to hike the Hot Pots with us up Diamond Fork Canyon. This was something I was looking forward to doing since our last hike up there last year with Amy and Austin. Sharing it with more friends was a lot of fun. It was a perfect day to go there and we planned it just right.
It was a little chilly starting off but once we got walking it was perfect! It's about a 2 mile hike both ways. The bridge is the halfway point. It has a lovely sign to warn us of things that we might see.

A little ways past that I start smelling a campfire. I didn't think anything about it except people might be enjoying one until our group that was ahead of us were around one. This is proof that there are some really stupid people in this world.

There was still a flame going when we got there. It was a little windy that day too so this could have easily started a fire. It was a little disturbing seeing this because there could have been a forest fire while we were in there. The boys deserve a Smokey the Bear badge because they put out the fire. I willingly gave up my water for the cause so I deserve one too.
Once we got to the pots we enjoyed one all to ourselves. Here is most of the group that came. Our friend Craig is taking the picture.

We were sad that Amy and my brother Nathan couldn't be with us. Amy had to stay home with her Son and Nathan had to work.
After we hiked back, it started to rain a little so we took our picnic to Matt's parents house. We also went there because I forgot to pack the hot dogs so the rain saved my butt I guess :). While things were getting setup I went to the store to get some.
On Monday we bought a pool that was on Sale for Evan. He played in it while we were working on our side yard. We watched a close eye on him the entire time so we didn't get much work done when he was in it. We didn't finish it till he was napping. Some of Matt's family came in after his nap to play with him and we had a BBQ with them and Nathan and Elizabeth joined us. It was a great day and weekend.

Once Old Can Be New Again

I picked this cabinet up at the DI for $30.00. I thought it would be great for any kind of storage, plus we were looking for something to place our printers on. It also had to be tall so Evan couldn't play with them. I was looking for something new but didn't want to spend a lot of money so I just thought to look at the DI. I saw this and thought it was perfect but needed some tender loving care so I thought to make a project out of it.

I stripped and sanded down the old paint. Matt helped on the sanding part because it was stubborn. I stained it three times to get the color I wanted and Matt put on the hardware. I thought it turned out really nice! This took a lot longer then I wanted it to and it was very hard, but I'm glad I did it. We ended up using the desk that the printers were originally on because we didn't want to get rid of it but we also didn't have a place to store it. At least we got more storage out of it!

"High On a Mountain Top"

Last weekend we decided to take out the camping gear and hit the mountains for an over night camping trip. It was short, sweet and a lot of fun! We wanted to use one of our new tents that we purchased at the end of summer and all the new camping gear that we slowly picked up, or gotten as gifts through the winter. We also wanted to see how Evan would do and luckily he was an angel. He loved it up there so we're excited for many other camping trips this summer. It ended up being really cold! Nothing that we didn't expect but we could have been a little more prepared for it. I expected Evan to wake up because of it but luckily it was only once. It really didn't matter if he woke up multiple times because I was awake the entire night. I was sooo tired but I just couldn't get my mind close. We camped up Hobble Creek Canyon, in the Balsam campsite passed Jolly's Ranch. It was or first time up that far and we thought it was pretty. The camp manager was also really nice so we just might go back.

Evan and Mother's Day

Our little Evan is growing before our eyes. This month he turned 18 months and this means....

Nursery!

The post title also says Mother's Day. I know it's way past but I have a story that I would like to write down so I will remember but I for sure wont forget it! I'm not quite ready to laugh about it just yet but I'm sure when I look back on this post in many years, (and I mean many) I might just laugh. This also goes for Matt.
This all started Sunday morning (Mother's day). I wake up and I get Evan's breakfast ready while Matt is getting ready to head to his meetings. I look in on him in the Living Room and I saw him take out a sippy cup from the diaper bag. I took it from him as soon as I got to him but he did get in a few gulps. I couldn't help but wonder how that cup got in there because I normally keep track of all sippy cups. I shrugged it off and just went about our day because I didn't think the milk sat there that long. Mother's Day was Evan's first day in Nursery. I thought it was a great gift from him so I was really excited! Not because I was going to be able to enjoy my meetings with no interruptions, but to see him learn.
Our Sunday meetings start at 1:00 pm so this was a couple hours later. Matt gets asked to help with the Sacrament so I'm left to sit with Evan all by myself. During the Sacrament prayer all of a sudden Evan started throwing up! He was right next to the diaper bag playing with things so he manages to get most of it in there but during a break of this, I picked him up and ran for the bathroom before the prayer ended. Evan had it all over himself and not to mention me. It was all over the front side of my shoulder and all down my back. I guess some came up on our little run to the bathroom. I got him stripped down to his onesie and I cleaned myself up as good as I could. I was dreading going back out there because of how embarrassed I felt but I felt bad that we left a nice surprise for Matt on the floor and plus my car keys where still in there. When I got back to the doors of the Sacrament room I saw Matt cleaning it up. I couldn't get myself to walk in but eventually he looked in my direction. I then just left for the car. He was right behind me and we took Evan home. I didn't get my Mother's Day gift from him that day but I knew he wasn't sick and I had to explain to Matt why this happened. More then ever I wanted to know where that cup came from!
After Matt willingly bathed and dressed Evan, he threw up again. After his second bath we got him down for his nap but 15 mins later, he started again but this time his stomach was empty. I was too afraid to give him anything so I just rocked him to sleep and he was down for good.
We called Matt's mom to let her know what was going on because of the possibility of not going over there. She was able to tell us why the cup came to be in the diaper bag so the mystery was solved! Friday evening, Matt and I went out with Evan for some fun and I over looked the cup and it was left in the car. Matt and I did some yard work on Saturday and Mom and Dad took Evan for us in our car while we borrowed their truck. Elaine found the cup and placed it in the diaper bag for me but forgot to tell me it was in there. The milk that was left in the cup became spoiled from just sitting in the hot car for half of Saturday. I learned my lesson the hard way, Check the car before going into the house!

This last Sunday was Evan's first time in the Nursery. We had no problems. He seemed to enjoy it. I had to peek through the peep hole of the door on my way to Relief Society to see how he was doing. He was sitting on a Sister's lap and they were singing "If You're Happy and You Know It". He was doing all the actions and clapping after he did each one. I'm so proud to be his Mother and Matt is so proud to be his Father.

We love you Evan even though you can do gross things :)!

Matt Turns 25!

I want to say Happy Birthday to my sweet husband even though I'm posting this a week late!
Things have been crazy around here getting things back to normal after our trip but it was well worth it! I think I was a little crazy throwing Matt a surprise party after just getting back from Boston but Elaine and Michael came over early to help me get things ready so I had a lot of help. Thanks guys!
Matt got some great presents and the party was fun so it was a great way to kick off his 25th year. It was also our 2nd anniversary of living in our home.

Matt's sister Leanna couldn't make it to the party since she's in Idaho for school, but she was home the weekend before the party. We didn't see her since we were in Boston but she made some fun signs that Michael put up around the house. It made Matt's day so I have to post them. Thanks Leanna! They were a laugh!
